Kevin Henson (he/him)

Assistant Professor

Kevin HensonBS162 instructor, BS172 instructor, BS182H instructor, BS192H course coordinator, BioSci Fellows Program coordinator

I attended Texas A&M University where I earned my Bachelor’s in Entomology. I was fascinated with ecosystem restoration and particularly with the role of native pollinators in restoration projects. I continued my education at the University of Florida where I broadened my interests from entomology to more general restoration ecology, wetland hydrology, and forest management while earning my Master’s and PhD in Environmental Engineering Sciences. During my final years in my PhD, my interest in teaching and STEM pedagogies bloomed, and this is when I decided to pursue teaching specific positions. I started in the BioSci Program in 2020 where I focus on teaching introductory organismal biology courses and develop the BioSci Fellows Program, which focuses on increased student belonging and outcomes in STEM education. Despite all my varied ecological and teaching interests, I will always have love for insects, and I consider myself an entomologist at heart.
