Course Description
Nature and process of organismal biology including experimental design, statistical methods, hypothesis testing in genetics, ecology, and evolution.
Course Overview
Laboratory activities and assignments in this course are designed to train you in the primary skills that biologists use, such as asking good questions (or identifying suitable problems), designing studies to address them, making, and recording measurements with precision, analyzing evidence, and communicating findings.  In doing so, we expect that you will develop a foundational understanding of biology that will not only prepare you for future biology courses but will enable you to function as biologically literate citizens. Our teaching team is here to help you achieve these goals, but ultimately, you are responsible for mastering the core concepts and skills.  We will share what we know about biology, showing you the tools that we use and providing youthe opportunities to hone your critical thinking and communication skills, as you grow as scientists.  We also hope that you will come to love biology as much as we do.
