Sachi Gorzenski (she/her)
Instructional Lab Coordinator
I earned B.S. in Environmental Biology/Zoology in 2005 from Michigan State University.
I started working at the Biological Sciences Program as an undergraduate lab prep student in 2001. After graduating from MSU with a bachelor’s degree in environmental biology/zoology, I continued to provide lab and lecture support to BioSci as a lab prep technician for over 18 years. In 2023, I became the instructional lab coordinator, where I oversee the day-to-day operations of our laboratory spaces and work with support staff and course coordinators to make sure our labs run smoothly. I enjoy working in a team to find solutions to challenges and fostering a positive learning and working environment for students, instructors, and staff.
I find joy in learning new skills and creating things with my hands. Recently, I have been assisting my partner in the production of bespoke equipment to aid in the conservation of endangered birds in Hawaii and other more remote Pacific islands. I’m grateful to be able to play a small part in helping with the conservation efforts and hope to visit some of the remote islands in the future.
In my free time, I love going on nature photography adventures with my partner and friends, cuddling with my dogs, and vegetable gardening.
